Position Summary
A well-respected fine jewelry retailer is seeking an experienced Goldsmith to join their talented workshop team. This is a critical role focused on jewelry repair, advanced stone setting, and custom fabrication.
The ideal candidate has at least 8 years of professional bench experience and is confident working on advanced repairs, stone setting (including large stones), and multi-metal fabrication. This opportunity offers the chance to work in a supportive, team-oriented shop environment with high standards of craftsmanship and service.
Key Responsibilities
Jewelry Production & Repair
- Perform daily repairs including ring sizing, prong rebuilding, re-tipping, soldering, and clasp repair.
- Execute advanced stone setting (prong, bezel, flush, pavé) including large stones.
- Conduct complex fabrication and multi-metal work for custom designs.
- Use a laser welder and bench microscope for precision repairs and setting.
- Manage a steady workflow of 10–15 repairs per day with attention to speed and quality.
Efficiency & Quality Control
- Deliver consistent, high-quality work that meets the store’s standards.
- Balance efficiency with precision in a high-volume repair environment.
- Inspect work carefully to ensure security of stones and structural integrity of each piece.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with other goldsmiths, sales associates, and management.
- Share knowledge and contribute to a respectful, supportive shop culture.
- Flexibly assist on custom projects and CAD-related work when applicable.
Required Skills & Competencies
- 8+ years of professional bench experience in fine jewelry repair and fabrication.
- Advanced proficiency in stone setting, fabrication, soldering, and finishing techniques.
- Skilled in laser welding and microscope-assisted work.
- Ability to manage workload and prioritize time-sensitive projects.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Professionalism, reliability, and integrity in all aspects of work.
Preferred (Not Required):
- CAD/CAM knowledge (for custom design support).
- Formal jeweler training or certification (e.g., GIA, New Approach School).
Working Conditions
- Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday, 40 hours/week (extended hours required during holidays and peak seasons).
- Environment: Collaborative, high-volume workshop with modern equipment.
- Relocation: Local candidates preferred; relocation considered on a case-by-case basis.
